Nicolet College Academic Success program offers free services to prepare for college classes

Anyone thinking about starting or returning to college and is looking to brush up on their academic skills before they enroll is invited to contact the Academic Success program at Nicolet College for free services to prepare individuals for college classes. “It can be challenging and even intimidating for people to enroll in college because they wonder if they can successfully handle the coursework,” said Lisa Young, director of the Academic Success program at Nicolet. “That’s perfectly understandable and even common. Our instructors have many years of experience helping students get up to speed academically and are happy to work with individuals on a one-on-one basis so they get the exact skills they need to be successful.” Instruction is available in a wide variety of areas including help with reading, writing, math, and computer skills. Once students do enroll in credit classes, the Academic Success program also has a team of instructors who are right in the classrooms to provide immediate academic assistance the moment it is needed. “And one of the best parts is all of these services are provided for free,” Young explained. “Students do not pay a dime.” Along with college preparation services, the Academic Success program also prepares students to earn their GED or HSED, explore different careers and the skills necessary for each so they select the career that is right for them, and help individuals learn to speak English if it is not their native language. Other services include help with time management and financial literacy.
