- Description is exactly "<b>Press Release Text: <br /><br /></b>Nicolet College Nursing Instructor Amy Gatton recently received the distinguished Nurse Educator certification from the National League for Nursing, recognizing her specialized knowledge, skills, and excellence in teaching. “This is a well-deserved endorsement of Amy’s high level of professionalism and teaching expertise,” said Nicolet Dean of Health Occupations Candy Dailey. “The certification process covers a broad range of competencies. This demonstrates to students and health care employers in the region that Nicolet provides a high level of instruction that results in graduates being well-prepared for the workforce and ready to deliver a high level of care to patients.” The certification process covers a broad range of topics that include, in part, effective teaching in classroom, lab, and clinical settings, developing curriculum and accurately evaluating student skills, integrating professional nursing values and behaviors into the curriculum, and continuing scholarship in the profession to stay current with advancements. Gatton joined the Nicolet Health Occupations faculty in 2016, teaching in the Nursing Assistant program before joining the Associate Degree Nursing faculty in the fall of 2018. She holds an associate’s of applied science degree in Nursing from Nicolet, a bachelor’s of science in Nursing from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, and a master’s of science in Nursing from Concordia University. Before joining Nicolet as an instructor, she worked as a Public Heath Nurse in Forest County and also worked for eight years a Nursing Assistant instructor with the Blackwell Job Corp."
