Performing Arts Series,” said Nicolet College Theatre Director Jim Nuttall. The upcoming show is a musical reunion of sorts. “We’ve continued to work together as duos and trios at various venues but all of us have not performed together for five years, and we are very excited to be together again!” explained Spiegelhoff. All of the musicians have a long history and deep-seated love for music, unifying for the upcoming performance they’ve deemed Our Musical Roots. “We all came from diverse backgrounds,” Spiegelhoff continued. “We searched our past, what formed our love of music, and narrowed a bunch of songs and styles down to seven or eight songs that spoke to our youth and the genres we loved.” The second half of the program will focus on how they evolved in their musical journeys. “We’re all children of the ‘70s, so we tend to gravitate toward ‘70s folks. But we love many genres. And Scott Kirby, being our younger counterpart, will keep things fresh,” she added. The group is eclectic in many ways. Spiegelhoff is a full-time music director and teacher at Nativity of Our Lord in Rhinelander. She provides vocals, harmonies, and plays keyboard. Carmen Kreitlow is a registered nurse and private music teacher, known for bringing gorgeous improvisation and classical piano sound to contemporary music as well as vocals. Cindy Nelson, who works at an assisted living facility and as a substitute teacher, is a skillful violinist with an incredible vocal range. Laurie Craig, a Nicolet Players theater troupe veteran, is a house painter and vocalist with beautiful vocal tone and instinctive harmonies and creativity. Recording artist Scott Kirby is a talented guitarist with bluesy rock grit vocals. Drummer Jaime Knott will sit in on percussion for the evening. “When it’s over, I want the audience to remember that even though we’re all very different, music speaks the same language, touches all souls, and brings us together,” Craig said.
