All five Nicolet College students competing in the recent DECA State Career Development Conference will advance to the international competition in Orlando, Fla., in April thanks to their strong showing at the state level.
“They all turned in impressive performances and really demonstrated the skills they learned in Nicolet classes and also really how to think on their feet,” said Dwight Webb, Nicolet DECA advisor and admissions advisor at the college.
Advancing to the International Career Development Conference April 22 to 25 for the business and entrepreneurship competitions are Tabatha Wilson, Darci Joslin, Brynlei Kuhn, John Krueger, and Katelyn Abbott. At the state competition Wilson and Joslin took third place in the team event Business Ethics; and Krueger and Kuhn took third place in the Entrepreneurship: Starting a Business team event.
The recent state competition in Delavan attracted about 150 competitors. The international competition is expected to attract several thousand students, teacher-advisors, and business professionals from around the world.
The Nicolet DECA Chapter is also currently conducting a fundraising event to help cover the costs of attending the international competition. For a donation starting at $150 sponsors will have their logo placed on the Nicolet DECA banner, which will be displayed in numerous locations. For more information about making a donation, contact Webb at dwebb@nicoletcollege.edu or (715) 365-4470.
