All members of the public are invited to attend the upcoming Community Service Fair at Nicolet College Friday, March 31, with the event featuring information and presentations by numerous area non-profit organizations set on building a stronger Northwoods.

“As part of the college’s mission to be in service to the people of northern Wisconsin, a big part of that is creating stronger communities to the greatest extent possible,” said Nicolet College President Kate Ferrel.

“By bringing all of these wonderful organizations together for one event, the public can come in and visit and learn what services might be available to them, to help them in their lives, and also what organization they may want to support through donations or volunteering time.”

Presentations will take place from 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. in the Nicolet College Theatre followed by the Community Service Fair from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. where each organization will have an information booth in the Lakeside Commons on campus.

Organizations making presentations starting at 8 a.m. include Habitat for Humanity, National Alliance on Mental Illness – Northwoods (NAMI), Rhinelander Area Food Pantry, Rhinelander District Library, Tri-County Council on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, and WILD Instincts.

The event will run in conjunction with Nicolet’s all-staff Campus Connection Day and a brief amount of college business will be conducted at the beginning of the 8 a.m. session.

Organizations that will have information booths at the Community Service Fair 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the Lakeside Commons include ArtStart, Feed Our Rural Kids (FORK), Habitat for Humanity, Headwaters Inc., Lights of the Northwoods, NAMI, Nicolet College Foundation, Northwoods Community Garden, Nicolet College DEI Committee - The Wall That Heals, Northern Arts Council, Rhinelander Area Food Pantry, Rhinelander Library, The Community Blood Center, The Table, Tri-County Council on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, United Church Camps, Inc., and Wild Instincts.

During the afternoon, Nicolet staff will continue with their Campus Connection Day activities by themselves volunteering their services both on-campus and out in the community at various non-profit organizations.

Community organizations staff will volunteer at include ArtStart, Habitat for Humanity, Northern Alliance on Mental Illness, Rhinelander Area Food Pantry, Rhinelander District Library, Tri-County Council on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, and WILD Instincts.

On-campus activities will include spring cleaning with Facilities staff, working the Nicolet Foundation phone bank, joining Health Occupations staff to make crafts to donate to long-term care facilities and shelters, creating signage for the Northwoods Community Garden, and working with the group that will bring The Wall That Heals, a Vietnam veterans memorial project, to campus in May.
